The
Fight of Your Life...
The Game of your Dreams!
Tekken
4 features new play features which differ from prior games
in the Tekken series. The most noticeable are the inclusion
of walls, the ability to change positions with your opponent,
and side moves.
Instead
of the infinite distance stages, realistic 3D stages have
been constructed. Each stage has characteristic width and
shape from what seems to be an almost unlimited outdoor stage
all the way down to a narrow street. A match will start with
trying to understand the space you are in and taking a good
position within, because one who is driven into a corner will
suffer greatly.
Side moves
are necessary in order to gain an advantageous position, while
back and forward movements are needed to have an advantage
in distance. Side moves are greatly improved in Tekken 4 to
allow a full circle of movement, which is one of the basic
moves of real fighting arts. Tekken 4 is no longer a simple
exchange of blows on a line, but instead allows for clever
tactics and reading one's opponent.
With the
new ability to change positions, players will be released
from the stress of being driven into a corner and beaten.
Careless opponents who are convinced of their victory will
find themselves driven to the wall the next moment. Continuous
tension and excitement are the basis and pleasure of fighting
games.
UPDATE:
TEKKEN 4's factory settings have "guard damage"
disabled. However, the vast majority of American players are
requesting that this feature be turned on. This feature allows
a players health meter to be slightly decreased during a punch
or kick if they are blocking the attack. This will also increase
the rotation time of players during peak times of business.
The feature is accessible through the game's test mode.
